Trippy Tales #48..."Childhood Paranormal Experiences" (Part One)

Hello and welcome to the playhouse!
I must ask you to forgive the text colors in tonight's post.
(Sometimes it's like that when you copy and paste)
Thank you so much for your understanding!
And now, on with tonight's entry...

I had some very strange experiences as a child, and in my quest to understand them better, I came across some interesting responses on the net, from other people who also had a rather "Haunted Childhood"...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Sleep paralysis as a child all the way up to the age of 18/19. Nothing since then. Even though it scared the crap out of me, I kind of miss it, because it was interesting to me and I knew that there was more to it than just "waking up paralyzed while dreaming". Those experiences included strange cloaked beings with no visible face, trying to suffocate me by packing bags of cement on my back, a woman in floral dress trying to suffocate me with a pillowcase-although no force was used (almost as though she had no physical power). I would lay there, and I could see everything happening behind me, without looking.

Once, I was lying on the couch trying to fall asleep with my back to the room. Behind me, I could see a girl in a white dress sitting at the sliding door looking very sad, as I plucked up the 'power' to turn around, she was gone but the sliding door was still open. It wasn't open before I saw her there.

The scariest by far- I was lying in bed asking my boyfriend quietly if he was sleeping. I asked because I heard something on the wooden stairs. He didn't answer. All of the sudden, I was paralyzed from fear. This 'girl' that looked like a half dead version of me came crawling around my bed. She had black hair, big dark brown eyes and long skinny arms. She took a hold on my arm and started pulling it and rubbing it intensely. The way she was looking at me with this weird needy grin on her face made feel terrified as though she wanted something from me...I couldn't move, speak, scream, nothing. Finally, I jolted up screaming and crying waking my boyfriend. I could still fell the pain in my arm from her hands after she was gone.

It took alot of guts to write this...I keep looking behind me in case she's back!"

"Many years ago, when I was about 16 or 17, I was semi-asleep in my bed.

The bed was positioned in the room such that there was a 1 or 1.5 foot space between the right side of the bed and the far wall with a window (bed couldn't cover up the air vent in the floor).

Anyhow, asleep/semi-asleep. Been watching telly in my room and drifted off, so the telly was on but no sound (broadcasting finished).

I was lying on my right side, on the right side of the bed facing the far wall as I mentioned earlier. Well, I start to wake up and can feel my pillow being 'dragged' or pulled towards that gap between the bed and the wall. I know it's not me doing it and I can feel how the far edge of the pillow is shaped like a hand has grasped it, if you can imagine what I mean.

Instantly I know this isn't "normal" and panic sets in. But in my mind I'm thinking, "Well, I don't want to let {whatever} know I'm awake", so I try a mid-sleep-rollover to my other side, away from the right side of the bed towards the left side of the bed.

As I do that, and the pillow still being pulled towards the gap, a very distinct, motley grey shape leaps over the bed and towards the left side and gone. I noticed this with my eyes semi open as I rolled from right to left.

At this point i faked being asleep and was practically weeing myself in fear, not knowing what the hell just happened. Didn't move or make a sound. I eventually fell asleep and woke up in the morning feeling really quite on edge. No explanation of what it was or what happened, no evidence no markings, etc.

So - what happened? I have no idea. I certainly don't think it was aliens. To be perfectly honest, I'm going to have to accept the real possibility I dreamed it, tho I am almost positive I was awake for this. I'm about 97% sure of this.

Was I ill? Did I have some low electrolytes, low blood sugar or low blood pressure, dehydrated, etc? No idea. Quite possibly and quite likely.

Funny thing is, I still recall it to this day, vividly and with some fear. I still recall noticing this grey, humanoid shape had no 'face' -- it was just blank. Wierd.

Anyhow, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. As I mentioned, I have no evidence or proof and am more than happy to accept it was all in my head. Still felt very very real though."

"When I was between 2 and 8 we lived in a home that was haunted. My mother was a very psychic woman, but unfortunately, it didn't pass on to me. She was pretty scary lol. Anyways, she used to use a ouija board all the time too....by herself. Her whole life, she has experienced paranormal activity so it seemed that whereever we were, strange things seemed to follow.

So this house.... strange things would happen all the time. Doors opening and closing, the feeling of hands grabbing your heels while sitting on the couch, mysterious shadows of a tall man walking through the halls, etc.

One night while I was in bed, my door started to slowly open so I covered my head in the sheets (I thought it was protective). Through the sheet, I could see an arm and hand coming closer and closer to my head as if to pull the blanket off. I closed my eyes in fear, then when I opened them again a minute later, it was gone.

I remember having the most horrifying, realistic dreams when I was between 3 and 5 of things I had not ever been exposed to before (violent and bloody)

Apparently, there was a construction worker who died while building the house.

NO picture ever turned out in that house without some sort of dark shadow in it. There's one of my sisters and I sitting around a chair at Christmas, and in the chair, you can faintly make out a shadowy face and figure sitting in the chair.

Oh the list goes on & on of strange and scary instances!

One night while my oldest sister was babysitting, we were all in the living room and between that and the hallway to the kitchen, there was a large piece of translucent glass. Our dog started growling and then a shadow of the tall man started walking slowly towards the living room. The dog became very agitated and the figure turned around and walked back towards the kitchen. The dog chased after it barking and growling stopping at the top of the stairs to the basement. He sat there growling for over an hour then my parents came home....dog wouldn't move until my father checked things out and found nothing.

To this day, I get chills down my spine whenever I think about that place!"

"When I was around 6 years old (or maybe younger, I can't remember for sure), I was playing in my room when what I can only describe as a shadowman came into my room. It had long fingers, red eyes, a robed-figure, and was just pure black. It looked at me, said "Go" and I ran screaming from the room to my mom who was downstairs. We went up to my room, and nothing was there; my window was open, and that was it.

The thing is, though, my window was nearly painted shut; my parents could open it, but I couldn't because it was so difficult to open. They never left the window open when I was alone because my room was on the second floor and the window had no screen.

I thought this was all a dream until I was 12 or so and brought it up when we were talking about dreams; which is when my mom corrected me and said that it really did happen (and the window WAS inexplicably open).

I can still see that figure like it was yesterday."

"As a baby, I babbled to and looked at people who were not present, so much that my family noticed I wasn't looking at them or talking to them and convinced themselves that I was talking to angels. I don't remember this.
I had an imaginary friend named Christine who I vividly remember being a young girl, maybe 5-7 yrs old with short curly dark brown hair and freckles. We left her at Tops one time and I made my mom drive back and open the door to let her in the car.
At 6 years old, I clearly saw a skeleton dancing on my wall, and a tiny see through craft made of static electricity come into my room and land on my dresser. Both times, I ran into my parents room screaming; we both remember. I know these things sound nuts, but I remember them so well.
Maybe 10/11 years old, I spent the night at my aunt's house often, in her guest room. I always had a feeling that someone else was in there with me, watching or trying to talk to me-especially near the closet where the head of the bed was. A few years later, my aunt had a baby whose nursery took the place of the guest room. When he became old enough to babble, she heard him talking over the baby intercom. She thought nothing of it until hearing a woman's voice. She ran into the room to see her son looking towards the closet, babbling, and trying to look around her when she stepped in his line of sight. She's the only woman who lived in the house at that time.
I had premonitions when I was 12/13 that occurred the next day.
Nothing since. I hit puberty at 10 (I think this is relevant).
My whole life (including currently) whenever someone is worried/thinking about me I hear them say my name. This was proved to me when I went through a very mentally unstable time and for three minutes alone in my room, I heard five different people say my name."

" One experience stands out to me:

This happened when I was 4-5 years old while in my morning kindergarten class.

I remember sharpening a pencil with a pencil sharpener that was attached to a closet door. As I sharpened my pencil the door to the closet came slightly open. I took a peek behind the door and I saw a huge white room with children sitting in a big circle. In the middle of the circle there was a woman dressed as a witch. She seemed to be telling the children a story. I continued to look until the woman noticed me and pointed at me. She then began to walk closer to me and then I quickly shut closet door out of fear.

I believe that I opened that closet door the next day and all I saw was the inside of a small closet. That door was not connected to any rooms.

I still think about that experience to this day ( i am 24 years old now). I wonder if it was a hallucination or something else?"

"As a child, up until about the age of 7 or 8, I used to sleep with my bedroom door open. I remember on numerous occasions lying in bed facing my door and what I used to call "little men" poking their head around the corner and looking into my room.

I do not recall them ever coming in, and I can not fully recall what they looked like, I just remember that they would be up against the wall in the hall and poke their head into my room as if they were watching me... Why they were watching me I am not sure.

I was not always afraid when I saw these "little men" but sometimes I was. There was a bathroom directly across the hall from my old room. I got into the habit of leaving the light on in there at night. The light would shine right into my room... sort of like a night light and it was very comforting... Some how I just knew that as long as that light was on, they would not come... And they never did when I had the light on.

I could share the UFO experience I had when I was about 7 but I do not think that is what the OP is asking for so I will omit that one.

I used to see ghosts all the time.. or what I assume were ghosts... some kind of spirit anyway.

I remember very vividly, when I was about 4, I was in my living room sitting on the floor in front of the couch. My mom and aunt were on the couch talking. Suddenly this rather large "shadow man" walked across the room. The arms and legs were not moving as it might if it were walking. It was just a "shadow man" sort of... gliding across the room.

I remember looking up at my mom and aunt to see how they were reacting to it and to figure out whether or not I should be afraid. They did not even seem to notice it, so I just assumed everything was OK and went about my business. I never saw this "shadow person" again though...

At around the age of 7, I was in that same house playing hide and seek with my sister and dad. I went into my room to hide. My bed had about a foot of space between the wall so I hid there.

While I was hiding, the light in that room went out... It scared me a bit but I kept hiding. After another minute or so, a pair of shoes that I had on top of a shelf and pushed far back scooted completely off the shelf and fell to the floor.

Needless to say I was done hiding and ran out of that room really fast. really that about sums up the events that happened to me as a child... Or rather the ones that fit within the confines of this thread... I will save those for another day."

And I too, will save these stories for another day...tomorrow, to be exact!
These are only a few of the stories I found concerning childhood paranormal experiences. There are many more to come, and I'll post some of my own as well. I hope you'll join me for part two!
