Trippy Tales #77..."The Thing In The Dark"

By Kathy @ your true tales
"This incident took place when I was 8 years old in 2001. I am 16 now, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I had lived in that house for all of my life. It wasn't until after my parents decided to open up the attic that weird things started to happen...
I would see shadow people, as you would say, but whenever I told my mom about them, she would just say it was my imagination... so that's what I would tell myself, that it was just my imagination.
Well, one night I was 100 percent positive I could not have imagined a creature like that. Every night since I was little, I would always wake up in the middle of the night (usually around 3), then just fall back asleep. One night I woke up, but I woke up with something staring at me. It was about 3 to 4 feet tall, it had a huge head with a tiny white "eye" in the middle. My room was dark, but the creature's body was so dark that I could perfectly see the outline of it in the dark.
My first reaction was literally... "What?!" I just stared at it because I didn't know what it was. I was just curious. My mother told me it was just my imagination, so I pretended I was asleep and turned over to turn on the light. (The light switch for the closet light was right next to my bed.) I turned over to see what it was. When I looked, there was nothing there, so I tried to figure out what it was. Maybe a stack of clothing... but there was nothing there. Maybe a shadow of some sort... but my curtains were closed and there couldn't possibly be anything that could have made the shadow. So in the end, I just fell asleep.
The next night, I slept with the lights off because I forgot the previous incident. I went to bed and again woke up around the same time. I saw "it" again! This time it was standing right next to the light switch. I was stubborn: I told myself that I was going to prove to myself that this was just my imagination. I sat up in bed and put my legs over the edge of the bed. As I got up, the creature tilted its head and looked up at me as I looked down at it. My thoughts went blank. My head was empty. I felt no fear, nothing... just emptiness.
Then my hand moved up to turn on the light, and as I turned the lights on, it vanished before my eyes in a purple smoke. This is when I started to think it was not all just in my head.
The next night, I woke up at the same time again. When I opened my eyes, I saw two of those little creatures! One was standing on my sister's bed and the other was standing between our beds. The one on my sister's bed just stared at me; it literally looked like it was pissed off at me. The other one was walking around looking at me, then turning to my sister, then looking at me again, and turning to her again... it did this repeatedly. Then it started lightly tapping the top of my sis's bed. It wasn't hard, though, so she didn't wake up. It looked like they where trying to choose between me and my sister, and it seemed to have liked her.
At this point I'm like, "What do I do?" The next thing I knew, I acted like I was sleeping, then quickly turned over, turned on the light and ran out my room without looking back. I just ran straight to my parents' room. I woke up my mom and told her there were things in my room. She didn't believe me and just said it was my imagination.
She took me back to my room, put me in my sister's bed, turned off the lights and closed the door... and just left me there. I did not sleep at all that night. I just lay there in bed wide awake, staring at my room, wondering if they were going to come back or not. I was so petrified! I didn't fall asleep until the sun came out! Since that day, I have not fallen asleep in a dark room by myself. The only way I can sleep in a dark room is if someone is awake next to me.
I am still scared they might come back."

Trippy Tales # 76..."The Hinsdale Haunting"

From paranormal blogspot.com:
In 1970, Clara and Phil Dandy moved in to a century-old farmhouse in Hinsdale, New York, leaving the chaos of city life behind. Shortly after, their son Mike befriends some local boys. They decided to explore the nearby woods one day and encounter something unexpected. Upon spotting a hunter, they begin to follow him until he mysteriously disappeared right before their eyes sending the boys running from the forest. This would be the beginning of a stressful four years.

A couple of weeks later, Clara walked the family dog in the very same woods and heard strange chanting. One night, board games were pulled off a shelf on to Mike's bed waking him from a deep sleep. They also experienced mysterious burns on their bodies, bricks pulled from a crawlspace chimney dismantled and placed in the middle of the room, a female spirit spotted wandering the house and witnessed "energy orbs". All these experiences led the Dandy's to contact Rev. Alphonsus Trabold from nearby St. Bonaventure University to rid themselves of the haunting in 1974.

After a few phone calls, Rev. Trabold arrived at the house with psychic Alex Tanous. Tanous relays to the Dandy's that the house was a stop on the stagecoach route. Tells them he saw several bodies in the crawl space of travelers who were robbed and killed or died of natural causes. Claimed he sensed seven spirits under those stairs. Several days after the visit, Mike had a car accident suffering a ruptured spleen and head injuries. He told state troopers someone was in the car with him but no trace of another person was ever found.

After Mike recovered from his injuries, Rev. Trabold and Alex Tanous made another visit. Tanous contacted the spirits haunting the property telling them to move on. Then, Father Al and the family joined together and performed a "common exorcism", an exorcism of a house or object. The ritual brought peace to the family and calmed the paranormal activity...for a few months. After the activity returned, the family decided to move out. They couldn't find a buyer and had to declare bankruptcy, but managed to leave for California in 1975.

Clara later penned a book about their experiences entitled Echoes of a Haunting (A House in The Country). The house has also been the subject of a docudrama and featured on an episode of the Discovery Channel's A Haunting. The famed house on McMahon Road has made a jump back in to recent news. Current owners Florence and Joseph Misnik have lived in the house since 1986. Their experiences have not compared to that of the Dandy's. Flo saw a man in blue jeans with a rifle in their bedroom. They have often heard the sounds of a phantom car in their driveway and smelled cigar smoke even though neither smokes.

Now in their 80s, the subject of the structures future is in question. Michael Rambacher, a friend of the Misniks and medium/paranormal investigator, is in the process of trying to acquire the house from them in order to establish a paranormal research centre. Rambacher is in the process of trying to raise enough money to pay off their mortgage and make necessary repairs to the dwelling. He hopes the couple will then donate the house and land to paranormal research with the assurances they can remain on the property until their deaths. The Misniks believe the house has a lot of history and don't want it to disappear in to ruins.

Trippy Tales #75..."Screamin' Demons!"

"The Demon Babyface"

BY WILLIAM T.

"Three years ago, I wrote a book about a ghost. I scrapped it soon after. Here's why...

A week after I finished -- six days, to be exact -- the noises started. I make a meager living, so my apartment is small, but the noises always seemed to be in the room I wasn't in.
One day I decided to try and catch whatever it was, as I thought I had rats or something, but every time I ran into the room, I found nothing. Now this may sound cliche, but it's true.
One night I was sleeping alone in my bed and was awakened by a scuffling noise. Now here's were it gets scary. I opened my eyes and saw a guy scuffling around on my floor on all fours! To this day I get chills from the image. It was unatural, like he had no bones.
Now I'm not a guy who get's paralysed when I'm scared, but I freaked out! I screamed and immediately regretted it when it looked at me. Its face was like a child's face on a man's body! I am ashamed to say, I pulled my covers over my head like a pathetic child. And thankfully, when I removed them... it was gone.
The next day, I promptly called a man (I won't give his name) who was supposedly an expert in this. He told me that despite my theory (I thought it was a poltergeist) that it was not a ghost at all. It was, in fact -- and this part chills me -- a demon. He said it fit the description of a demon he referred to as "Babyface."
I moved out a week and a half later and haven't been bothered since...but I still remember it every time I hear an unidentified noise."

"The Demon At My Grandparents' House"

BY JBOYBROWN

"This happened in Hollywood, California in 2004 or 2005. I was about 6 or 7 and a scared-of-my-own-shadow type of boy...

I was raised in a Christian family and have always had a personal experience with God. I know that God is real, which also means that Satan is real. Meaning that demons have to be real. I would always sleep in my room at my grandma's house along with my grandpa. We slept on opposite sides of the room with a chair and lamp between us...

One night, after having said my prayers, I went to sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night because the lamp was on. I looked up and saw what I at first thought to be my grandpa sitting in the chair.

Boy, was I wrong! This "person" was holding a book that was covering his face. He was dressed all in black and his hands were a waxy shade of gray. I thought it odd for my grandpa to be up reading at such a late hour. So I said, "Grandpa, why are you reading so late?" I got no answer.
The book slowly lowered and... I will never forget what he looked like...

His eye sockets were sunken in at least three inches. His eyes were completely black as was his mouth. As I recall, he had veins from his lower lip to his neck. They were black as well.

Instantly, I was paralyzed with fear. I did not know what to do!

He opened his mouth and spoke, but it wasn't English. It sounded middle eastern. I cried softly, gathered up the courage to jump down and into my grandpa's bed. I then said softly, "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus..." and when I looked up there was nothing there.

I don't know what it was, but I know it was real!"

"Demon From The Closet"
By Sarah

"I am still creeped out to this day! This happened in Las Cruces, New Mexico back in 1999. I was 14, but the memory is still so vivid...

My family (one brother, mom, dad) lived in a small, three-bedroom house. I was in my room curling my hair when in the reflection of my bureau mirror I saw what appeared to be my brother come out of my closet, and his face was pale.

He was was wearing longjohns and his mouth was wide open as he crept along the wall. I yelled at him to get out of my room, as we had fought over this before. I put the curling iron down (taking my eyes off the mirror for one brief moment) and I went to ask my mom and dad to keep him out of my room.

Much to my surprise and horror, my brother was actually watching TV on the couch with them in regular clothes. I instantly started crying hysterically. I managed to mutter out what had happened to my parents, but I was inconsolable.

My mom looked at me calmly (almost like it wasn't her) and said, "Ignore it. If it knows it's getting to you, worse will come." Those words stick in my mind and are repulsing to me to this day. I wish never again, to have an experience like that!"

Trippy Tales # 74...Halloween Horrors Continued...

!!HAPPY HALLOWEEN KIDDIES!!

"HAUNTED TRAILER"
(BY 8FIREFAE @ about.com/your true tales)
"This happened in 2003 when my family was living in a trailer home in Charlottesville, Virginia. We were renting the place. It was small with only two bedrooms, but the living room and kitchen were big, so it was okay. My mattress was placed on the floor because my bedframe had broken when we had moved.
Over the next two years, I would hear snippets of weird conversations, as if someone were rewinding a cassette tape while listening to it. I always brushed it off as someone walking by outside whispering to each other. Some nights I would wake up from a sound sleep and think that I had seen someone darting into my walk-in closet, sitting on my dresser or running past my door when I knew that my dad and mom were at work and that my siblings were over a friend's houses or even asleep next to me. I hid under my covers when that kind of stuff happened, telling myself that I was hallucinating.
It was one night when I was home alone and had gone to bed that really made me realize that I wasn't dreaming this stuff up. I went to bed that night and curled up under the covers. I woke up because I had to go to the bathroom when I suddenly felt someone hold me down. I was suddenly paralyzed and I couldn't open my eyes. I tried to open my mouth and scream, but I couldn't. I could hear the air whooshing around my head really, really fast. My blankets waved in it. Through my closed eyes were bright red, blue and green lights that whizzed with the air. I kept thinking to myself to move, that if only I could move a finger or a toe that I could get up and run. I tried for what seemed like forever and I started to cry.
Finally I was able to twitch a finger and everything just stopped. My eyes popped open and I pushed myself to my knees and looked around. It was just my room. My fan was off. I could see my blankets in the hallway through the open door that I had closed before going to bed, and drawer was on the dresser built into the wall with the closet. I got up to get my blankets and couldn't find my pillow. When I turned to look in my room for it, the drawer slammed shut on its own. I slammed the door to the bedroom and took my blankets to the couch. I was so terrified that I refused to go into that room alone. I slept on the couch until we moved to an apartment complex.
Even in the living room, weird stuff would happen, like the car keys being lifted up from their place by the door and the sound of someone running down the empty hallway in the middle of the night. I was so afraid of going to bed in that place that I ended up sleeping in the day and staying up all night, pretending I didn't see or hear anything.
I had never been so glad to move away from a place as when we moved from there. My family experienced the floating keys and the running down the hall but, I never told them about the thing that happened when I was alone in the room. Even now, I want to cry when I remember that terrifying experience!"

"CREEPY CHILDHOOD HOME"

(By Robert @ about.com/your true tales)

"I grew up in an old house in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a three-story home built around 1880, about 15 years after the American Civil War ended. A lot of unexplainable things have happened to me while I lived there, but nothing was enough to make me want to move out.
I always believed this house was haunted. I've experienced: hearing footsteps ascending the stairs, stopping in front on my bedroom door; something unseen pulling on my hair; seeing a cat in the house when I didn't own a cat; doorknobs jiggling on their own; both of my front windows shattering for no reason at the same time; seeing a two-foot dark figure run across the floor and vanish behind a recliner; and having a blanket yanked off of me while I was sleeping.
These things I shrugged off as either seeing or feeling things that weren't there, and with some of them, I was satisfied with my own explanations, like maybe a variance in temperature could have broken the windows or the blanket could have slid off me through the course of sleeping and I may have mistaken it for being yanked off of me, etc.
But there are two stories that stick out in my mind as being the creepiest.
Ever since I can remember, I've always heard noises in one of the closets in my room. Not just random noises, but particularly loud banging. Sometimes it would even wake me up. Because of that, I never used that closet for anything but storage.
Occasionally, I'd get up and open the closet door in an effort to put my mind at ease, in hopes of finding the cause. I never did find out. The only thing I could compare it to would be that it sounds like someone was inside the closet and banging on the door to get out.
Eventually, I resorted to not using the closet at all and I reversed the door knob. The knob only had a lock on one side and I put the lock on the inside of the closet, and then I locked it. The only way the closet could be opened was either with a screwdriver from the outside, or it can be unlocked normally from the inside.
One night during the summer of 1984, I went to bed as normal, but when I woke up the following morning, I noticed my bedroom door was open. I thought it was peculiar because I always lock my bedroom door, plus it was summertime and I had the air conditioner running.
While I was trying to convince myself that I accidentally left the bedroom door open, I noticed that the closet door was wide open. My jaw hit the floor! There was no way that anyone could've unlocked the closet door because it was locked from the inside. I could only conclude that something was in the closet, unlocked the door, opened it and walked around my bed while I was sleeping, and opened the bedroom door and left the room.
Ever since then, the noises in that closet have ceased, and I put a desk in front of it.
In the summer of 1999, I moved into my parents' house because I had two surgeries and needed help doing things until I recovered. My parents are the kind of people that were always arguing. There was a lot of negative energy in that house and it was the main reason I had moved out several years prior.
During this time, my parents were discussing getting a divorce, which I believed would probably be in the best interest for both of them. It was obvious they had grown to hate each other.
I'm a night owl, and every night around 2:00 or 3:00 a.m., I would here my parents argue about various topics, and would usually end up with one of them getting up to sleep in the spare bedroom. This spare bedroom had a hole in the wall about the size of a basketball which was put there by my brother during one of his temper tantrums and had never been repaired. The hole went completely through the wall, from the hallway into the bedroom.
One night, I heard them arguing and realized I needed to use the bathroom. I decided to wait until the argument was over. After everything had settled down, I went to the bathroom. While I was in there, I heard crying. Actually, it was more like sobbing or weeping, with some whimpering and moaning. It sounded kind of creepy really, almost painful. I finished my business and left the bathroom. As I walked down the hallway in complete darkness (because the hallway light was broken), I had to pass by the spare bedroom, so I paused for a few moments at the hole in the wall, and I heard the crying coming from inside the room. I continued on, and went to bed and didn't think much else about it.
The next day, I went downstairs for breakfast and asked my mom who stayed in the spare bedroom last night. She said no one had, and asked why. I told her I heard someone in the spare bedroom crying and said it was neither of them. The discussion went on for a few more minutes and she insisted it wasn't them. It was at that moment the chills went down my back and I was having flashbacks of the scary experiences I had in the house when I was younger.
About two weeks later, I went downstairs in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. While in there, I once again heard the crying. Every hair on my arms and legs stood straight up. Now I was really scared. I finished my business and was somewhat relieved that the door was shut but at the same time I was terrified to leave the bathroom to go back to my bedroom because I knew I had to walk by the hole in the wall.
It took me about 30 minutes to muster up the courage to come out of the bathroom. The whole time, the crying was persistent. I ran down the hallway in partial darkness, ducked below the hole in the wall, and ran up the flight of stairs to my bedroom, the whole time feeling like something was behind me, and slammed my door shut and locked it.
The next morning I asked my mother about it and again she said no one stayed in the room. I suppose it's kind of silly of me to have acted that way, but if any of you have seen and heard and felt some of things that I've experienced in that house in my youth, you may have done the same.
I now live on the other side of the country with a family of my own and have absolutely no odd occurrences. But my family still owns the house, and one day, after my parents pass, I will own the house...though I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with it...?"

Trippy Tales #72....Kids' Creepy Experiences With Things That Go Boo In The Night!

Baby-Stealing Werewolf
(By Loopycute at about.com)
"What I'm going to tell you has never been told by me to anybody, with the exception of my mother because I still I believe whatever I saw might come to hunt me.
Forty-five years ago, I was living in Poza Rica, Veracruz, Mexico with my family. I was 4 years old at the time. I remember that it was during summer time because we had just come back from our vacation.
When we came back to our neighborhood, one of the neighbors told my mom that she lost her baby boy and that it was the third tragedy around that colony within the month. I recalled my mom telling my dad that night that she was very scared and wanted us to move as soon as possible. My dad told her that we would.
When she was done talking to him, she called me and my brother and gave us instructions to not go outside after dark, no matter what!
About two nights later, we were celebrating my brother's birthday, and after the celebration my mom cleaned the house and put us to sleep. Sometime that night I woke up to drink water, and I noticed that it was really bright inside the kitchen because the moonlight was very bright coming through the window above the kitchen sink.
I was too small to get a cup from the cupboards, so I pulled a chair from our dinning table and put it right in front of the sink. At that moment, I happened to look into my neighbor's house across from our home and noticed that there was someone or something very big in front of their door... and it seemed to be holding something.
When I got closer to the window to see what it was holding, I realized that whatever it was standing there was taller than the door. It had pointed ears and had no clothing on. When I saw the ears, I jumped and my chair made a loud noise. The thing turned and looked at me -- and I saw its face!
It looked like a police dog with bright red eyes on two legs, and what it was holding was a baby! I got off the chair, ran to the room to my baby brother's bed and held him for a long time. I was so scared that I thought whatever I saw was going to come through the door and take us away.
The next morning, we went to church, and our neighbor told my parents that her friend across from our home lost her child the night before and that nobody knew how it had happened. When I heard that, I started crying. My mom asked me what was wrong with me and I told her what I had seen. She told me that we would be moving sooner and to never to tell anybody what I saw. And I haven't... until now.
From then on, I have this nightmare once in a while. I see myself as a kid walking and being chased by the beast that I saw.
Years later, When I was 25 years old, I went to the fair and entered the tent of a fortune telling woman. She held my hand and told me a few things that were happening to me at the time. Suddenly she pushed my hand away and told me to go away. When I asked her why, she said that I had a shadow and that sooner or later it was going to find me. It was a very dark, mean thing looking for me.
I asked her to help me, but she shook her head and said, "No, baby. He won't hurt you. He would hurt whoever is around you and whoever tries to help you. So please go!"
Until now, I have my dark moments when I'm always looking around for any strangers coming toward me. I try to avoid the woods, which the fortune telling woman told me to do. This really happened to me."
Little Green Trolls

(BY ROB TAYLOR at about.com)

"This happened when I was about eight or nine years old. My twin brother and I shared our bedroom, two seperate twins beds. On a few nights we would both be awakened to five or six green glowing men, what I can only decribe as trolls.
They where on top of our tall dreeser across the room. They were maybe four or five inches tall. They were walking on top of the dresser with tools in their hands: hammers, etc. Crude looking hammers. Their clothing also crude and dishelvled.
They would walk back and forth as though they were doing work with their equipment, not caring that my brother and I were both lying there staring at them in amazement. They would make gruff noise and continued to work on top of the dresser.
This would happen for, I quess, a minute or so until they would one by one walk away in a line -- not through the wall, but they would just dissapear before they actually came in contact with the wall.
This happened over 30 years ago. I actually forgot about it until I happened to mention it to my wife. She obviously didn't believe me, so I asked my twin brother if he remembers strange things that would happen in our old bedroom when we were little. He without hesitation said to me, "You mean those little green suckers that would make all that noise at night? Yeah, I remember that!"
The Cloudy Ghost
(BY XENIA B. at about.com)
"When I was 12 years old in 2004, my family and I moved into a mobile home in a little town called Alvin, Texas, near Houston. One evening while doing my chores, I was washing clothes in the laundry room. The dryer buzzed, meaning the clothes were ready. I got my basket to go take them out to fold.
I was getting ready to go into the bedroom to fold the clothes, but right when I was about to walk in, I froze in shock. The hair from my toes all the way on top of my head stood. At the foot of my bed on the floor sat a figure, his knees to his chest, all white. He turned to look at me, but he had no face; it was all blank.
I guess I scared him as much as he scared me, because as soon as he saw me, he stood up and ran into my closet to hide. It was a very weird but amazing thing to see. If I had to describe him, it was like seeing a human, arms, legs, head, but all white, like a cloud. No features, just white.
A few nights after that, I had been lying in bed waiting for my mother to get home (she worked late nights). But I liked waiting up for her. I had my bedroom door open and I was staring into the hall. It was about 2 in the morning.
All of a sudden, I heard someone moving the dishes around in the kitchen. I thought nothing of it, thinking it was my older brother. It got silent again, then out of nowhere I heard thump, thump, thump... someone was running from the kitchen to the living room.
I threw my covers off and quickly ran to the kitchen and yelled, "Manuel," calling my brother's name. But there was no one there. I went to check on my brother and he was knocked out, fast asleep.
Whoever passed away there loved messing with me and only me, somtimes knocking on my front door at all times of day or night. I would open it to find no one there. I am glad we finally moved away a few years later because I could finally sleep peacefully!"

Trippy Tales #71...."Scary Stories From The Spooky Isles!"

Ghouled Evening, and welcome to the playhouse! Please come in!

Tonight's Trippy Tales have been skullfully selected from "The Spooky Isles" (of London) at spookyisles.com... I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I did!

Manchester’s SHIRLEY JOHNSON reveals her childhood ghost experience – the night a “cherub” appeared at her window!

“When I was 4 or 5 years old back in the early 1970′s we lived on a new estate in Whitefield, Bury.
A lovely open spaced area with lots of fields. I remember going upstairs to bed one night, as normal, and dropping off to sleep.
I was woken up by a tapping noise, and turned round to look at my sister who was fast asleep in her bed.
When I looked up above her, there was somebody there, tapping lightly outside the window.
I can only describe it as “cherub” looking – very white, small, about 3 foot tall, with tight white curls.
Next thing I know, this being is standing on the windowsill, which surprised me, but I wasn’t scared.
We started chatting, about what, I don’t recall.
I looked around at the wall because I could hear banging again and saw two black shadows, with top hats and capes on.
They looked like they were pulling something back and hammering.
I still wasn’t frightened.
All of a sudden my Mum walked in the room and asked who I was talking to.
I looked at her and replied ‘the white lady’, and when I looked back, she, and the shadows were gone.
My Mum was a little freaked out by my tale, even though she thought I had dreamed it.
We found out from our neighbors, that the new estate had been built on an old cemetery.
We moved house not long after.
My Mum and me talked about my story for many years after, and it is still clear in my mind.
I still can’t watch the film "Poltergeist" without being unnerved, because of the similarity of the house being built on a cemetery.
I like to believe that the Cherub was there to protect me from the shadowy figures. I would certainly be scared if anything happened like that to me now.”

And now, a more sinister story...

Powys’ LISA MUNDAY describes her childhood memory of watching ghostly body parts float across her bedroom walls...

“From my childhood I’ll never forget the three-story house we lived in.
I hated everything about this house from the attic to the basement!
It was always dark and huge.
Being a child at the age of 5,  I always believed in the monsters under my bed and the boogeyman, so I guess you could say that maybe this is just my imagination but even today 23 years on I can still picture it.
All of it.
It only happened one night (luckily we moved out not long after).
I was in bed, lying awake, talking to myself (as 5 years olds do, I guess), I could hear my brother (he would have been 8 then) singing in his room.
It must have been about 9pm and very dark.
I looked at my bedroom door thinking I’d go and see my brother and maybe ask him to shhhh!
As I looked at my door, I saw an image of a brown, hairy ear.
I watched this image slowly glide across my bedroom wall to the window.
As it hit the side of my window, it suddenly floated under my bed.
As it went under, I saw another image...this time of a mouth, this one also glided across the wall and floated under my bed.
I saw at least six images float under my bed of body parts...ear, mouth, nose, eyes and hands.
At the point of seeing these hands, I decided I was getting OUT of my room!
I very slowly pushed off my duvet and moved at the slowest pace I could go.
As both my feet touched the floor, I felt hands grab both my ankles!
I jumped, screamed the place down, and curled up under my duvet as fast as I could until my mother came to my rescue.
She switched on the light, asked what was wrong, I told her, she checked under the bed and everywhere else in my room, there was nothing there. That night I slept with my parents, I had nightmares for days!
A few weeks after, we moved into a smaller house, two story house.
My first night in my first bunk bed, I heard two girls under my bed whispering “Let’s get Lisa!"
After that, I refused to sleep in my room and took over my brother’s, much to his disappointment!"

Trippy Tales # 70..."Ghost Dogs"....Part One

"MY BEST FRIEND'S GHOST" from the blog of Douglas Cruickshank @ ralphmag.org
"For some time now, I've been at that tedious stage of life where I wake up at, say, 3:19 a.m. and toss and turn and stare into the darkness, then settle into 30 or 40 minutes of concentrated fretting about some bit of minutia --- a minor disagreement, a financial hiccup, a newly discovered bump --- that, as I lie there, grows into a humongous angstbeast. Sooner or later (usually later) I go back to sleep and invariably, by morning, the previous night's Godzilla of worry has shrunk to the proportions of a strident titmouse.
Of course, I like a good middle-of-the-night mental torment session as much as the next person, but I was nevertheless relieved when my evening disruptions changed in a way that was both strange and pleasant. I began to experience a phenomenon that I can't explain; it falls somewhere between wishful thinking and spirituality, the natural and the supernatural. Whatever it is, I'm in no hurry for it to cease.
Here's what's happened: I live in a small town, in an old neighborhood on a quiet street. During the past few months, a couple of times a week, I emerge from my nighttime slumber, but before the anxiety engine builds up a head of steam, I hear, clearly and distinctly, breathing --- right there in the room with me. And as I come fully awake and listen I recognize it as the slow, measured inhale and exhale of my giant dog, a 200-pound shaggy, black, extremely amiable Newfoundland, who doesn't sleep so much as go into a coma. Sometimes he'll shift and paw the carpet, snag his nail and shake it loose, but he never really comes to consciousness. In and out he breathes with soothing metronome regularity. His utter calm is contagious, and in no more than a few minutes, I drift back to sleep. On several occasions, I've heard him out in the living room or in the kitchen --- he tends to migrate between the same three or four spots through the night, never entirely waking up as he moves --- walking slowly and heavily to a new resting place, maybe turning a few times, then letting himself fall to the floor with a soft thud. I've always found it comforting to hear this great, laid-back creature that resembles a miniature buffalo moving about at night. And I still do.

The odd part is, he died nearly five months ago.
I've never believed in ghosts, but thanks to this new series of very welcome nocturnal visitations, I'm now all in favor of them. When I told one woman this story, she said, "Ah, he's still in the house then." That seemed as likely an explanation as anything I've come up with. And when I asked a friend about her view of ghosts, she thought for a minute, then said, "I guess they're sort of our vapor trails." Indeed.
Over the summer and early fall, as the weeks turned to months and my ghost dog repeatedly made his presence known, I conducted a casual, unscientific poll. The poll's sole question was, "Do you believe in ghosts?" And the answers were surprising. These were levelheaded people from across the vocational and social spectrum, and their responses were about 85 percent "yes" to 15 percent "no." Not only that, a goodly number of the believers told me of their own experiences with ghosts. The very notion of such a thing is a tenacious one. From culture to culture, across the centuries, the idea of a spirit that lingers after death, an apparition, a specter that continues to interact in some way with its earthbound friends, relatives and enemies has been pervasive. From ancient tales and on through the narratives of Dickens and Sebold, the thought that we can, and even should, stay in contact with the departed is a compelling one.
But do they exist or do we create them? Is there a spirit world, an in- between place? Are ghosts the rail we grab hold of to steady ourselves in tumultuous times? And if there are such entities, do we find them or do they find us?
I don't know. I don't have any idea. I do know that what I once dismissed, I've now had first-hand experience with. I know, too, that we're all so terribly concerned with what's real and what's not, with whether something happened or didn't happen, that we've lost all sight of the difference between what's probable and what matters. I suppose that's a ghost's reason for being --- to remind us. Maybe believing in them isn't even the point. Perhaps the more relevant question is whether they believe in us.
Be that as it may, this paranormal turn of events has set me to wondering. Is this the birth of a trend? Given how gaga people are about their mutts these days, can a population explosion of ghost dogs be far off? And if author Susan Orlean's dog can write a cookbook, perhaps my phantom friend is ready to be the first canine to dictate a memoir from the other side (Hollywood, are you listening?). Alas, I suppose not. He never displayed a proclivity for drafting prose before he passed over to the twilight world. And now, by all indications, his oversize spirit is still mainly interested in pursuing his greatest passion: sleep."

"CORKEY'S GHOST" by "Anonymous" @ "your true tales"
"When I was a young girl, I absolutely loved animals and often preferred to spend time with pets over other kids at times. My neighbors had a hunting dog named Corkey who lived to be 12 years old. As a child, I would often wander over to the neighbor's yard and play with Corkey. They kept him chained up out back adjacent to our yard during the days while they worked. I would try to teach him tricks and give him treats. I pretended he was my dog. I was not allowed to have a dog growing up.
I was now 16 years old. It was a cold spring day. I put my robe and slippers on and went to grab a soda off the back patio. I opened the back door and saw Corkey sitting in his usual spot. I called out, "Hey, Corkey!" The dog never moved. He just sat and starred at me. I said, "Corkey, what's the matter?" The dog still never flinched and just kept looking at me.
I remember just looking at him and in the back of my head, something felt "off". He was sitting upright and absolutely motionless. I took the soda and went inside. I was getting a glass out of the cupboard, and my mom walked in. I made the comment that "it sure is cold out today, and I can't believe they are leaving that poor dog out all day like that."
My Mom said, "Corkey was put down two weeks ago. He had cancer and was suffering."
I said, "No, Mom. I just saw him a few minutes ago."
My Mom, who was stubborn and never wrong, said sarcastically, "The dog is dead. I talked to her [meaning the neighbor woman]. She was very upset about losing him."
I, being sure I was right, walked over to the window and looked out, and now saw that Corkey was not outside. I re-thought what I had seen out there. I remember feeling that it was odd that Corkey never wagged his tail or moved when I called out to him. I also remember seeing his chain hanging down from his neck. There was no chain even out there anymore.
It really shocked me. I couldn't believe it. Then it started to make sense. That feeling I had when the dog did not respond, it was that odd feeling, like in the back of your head that something isn't right, but you brush it off. I have read and heard others tell stories of seeing ghosts that appeared to be alive and solid. They all say the same thing: "They had no expression on their face. You could not tell what they were feeling at all."
What I think about the most is that I called out to him twice and he never responded, just sat and starred at me. If someone else would have been next to me, would they have seen him? Or did I just look like a crazy person calling out to a non-existent dog? It's just so bizarre. I clearly saw and spoke to a dog that was not alive!"

Trippy Tales #69...More Stories Of The Supernatural!

Thanks for visiting the playhouse! Tonight's tales come from true-ghost-stories.com, and I hope you enjoy them!

 "Shhhh...Someone's Coming!" by Sherry @ true-ghost-stories.com
"I truly believe the house I grew up in was haunted.  Though we were the original owners, as far as I know, the house was built on farm land. When I was about 13 years old, I was awakened one night by the sound of loud, whispering voices that seemed to be coming from our living room. My bedroom was located at the opposite end of the house from the living room. I got out of bed to investigate and ran into my father in the hallway. He had also been awakened by the voices. While standing in the hall, we also heard the muffled sound of footsteps. The living room was carpeted, but underneath were hardwood floors that would creak if you stepped on the right spot. It seemed there were two male voices and one female. The men seemed to be arguing and it appeared that the woman was trying to get them to be quiet. Daddy and I listened for a few more minutes and then began walking down the hall towards the living room. We distinctly heard the woman say, "Shhhhh, someone's coming." Then, there was the sound of the chain lock on the front door rattling. When my dad and I entered the living room, it was quiet, but there was a definite chill in the air. We sat in there talking about what we heard for the longest time. We never experienced this again."

"Grandfather's Apparition" by Sherry @ true-ghost-stories.com
"My grandparents lived down the street from where we used to live. My grandfather died in the house in 1972. My cousin was going to move in with grandmother, but until she could get moved, my Mom and I spent a few nights in the house, so grandmother wouldn't be alone. Mom slept in the bedroom that my grandfather occupied. I slept on the couch in the living room with their little Chihuahua, Nina, curled up with me. I was awakened that first night by Nina whimpering and shaking. I looked up and there in the dining room area was my grandfather. I could see him clearly. I was too shocked to move.....I just continued to stare and eventually he just faded away. I didn't tell anyone about this for many years. I didn't want to upset my grandmother and I wasn't sure anyone would believe me. I never saw him again. Grandmother died a few months later and the family sold the house. The house has changed hands many times over the years and according to some of the neighbors, the occupants have claimed it's haunted. I can easily believe this."

"The Green Arms" by Ashleigh @ true-ghost-stories.com
"When I was little, I always awoke in the middle of the night screaming. Sometimes, I never knew why. Other times, it was nightmares. The closest bedroom to mine, was my brother's, so I would run in and ask if I could stay until I felt better. He never really minded the company and if I annoyed him with questions or such, I would just go to my parents room, the next door down the hall. Late one night, I woke up terrified. I ran to my brother's room and he agreed to let me stay for a while. After I had calmed down, my brother and I began to talk. I don't know what it was, but suddenly we were both looking towards the left wall. Two huge green arms were reaching out and then disappeared back into the wall. We told our parents but they didn't believe us, so we kept quiet and never told anyone again. We never knew what it was, and we never saw it again."

"He'll NEVER Return!" by Danny @ true-ghost-stories.com
"My dad's father stayed with my parents a few days after he and my dad's mother were separated, and he slept upstairs. He came down the next morning with his blanket and pillow saying he'd never go back up there again. He heard voices in the hallway whispering words he couldn't make out and this kept him awake.  He got up several times to close the door only to awaken and find it open. He slid a heavy dresser to block the door and it stayed closed till he awoke up the next morning. When he awoke, the dresser was sitting next to his bed, and the door was again open!"

Trippy Tales #68...Creepy Tales To Make You Tremble!

"A Frightening Childhood" by Sophie @ yourghoststories.com

"I remember being frightened all the time. Scared. Like something was always waiting for me in the next room.
It all began when I moved into an old Villa, built in the early 1900's. I was 7 years old. My brother (who was only 5 at the time) and I were so excited. My father renovated the house shortly after we moved in. He extended my room (which we called the sun room, as it was at the far end of the house where the sun shone in all day), and put in a new kitchen, bathrooms, and built a large deck in the backyard with a fish pond at the far end.
We also welcomed a new dog into our family. A big fluffy German Shepard, called Norman.
It wasn't long after we moved in that we started experiencing strange phenomena. The first recollections of these happenings are ones I can't remember, but ones that my mother had informed me about later in life. Whilst my bedroom was being renovated, I shared a room with my brother. One night, Mum awoke to the sound of us having a conversation. Assuming we had stayed up past our bed time, she came into the room and told us to go to sleep. Instead of responding, we continued to talk, and at that moment she said realized we were sleep-talking. "There he is!" I said, "He's coming!" My brother then began to say, "The man is here!" My mother thought this was strange, so she woke us up, saying we'd had a bad dream.
The next instance occurred, again, to my mother. She awoke to footsteps walking around her bed. When she opened her eyes, she saw a short black shadow with glowing green eyes staring back at her. She hit out at the "thing" in fear, which resulted in my father waking up, confused. He insisted that she must have been dreaming, as he didn't believe in anything paranormal. The bizarre thing was, that 5 minutes after she had seen this glowing eyed creature, my brother ran into her bedroom saying he had just seen "E.T." standing by his bed.
I remember my first encounter with a ghost. I would have been about 10-years-old. It was after Dad had finished renovating my new bedroom. It was a still night, and no moon in the sky, so my bedroom was pitch black. Like my mother, I awoke to footsteps slowly walking into my room and around my bed. I opened my eyes, and to my horror, a blonde haired boy with blue eyes, knelt beside my bed. He just stared at me, smiling. A white glow surrounded him, it was so bright it hurt my eyes. I remember being so terrified. I couldn't move. I felt frozen, my heart was racing. I got the courage to pull the blanket up over my head, and lay there in the darkness hoping he had gone away. After a few minutes, he had.
Our dog Norman was also subject to seeing something paranormal in the house. He used to sit in front of the old fireplace, staring at the mantlepiece as if something was there. Waving my hand in front of his eyes didn't deter him. I always wondered if he could see something we couldn't.
My mother saw many other entities, including a tall man wearing a top hat, a girl with abnormally big eyes and long brown hair, and small children playing on her window seat.
The most terrifying experience I had, was something I could not see, but could only hear. I had just hopped into bed and turned off the light, when I noticed a noise that sounded like somebody breathing heavily. I listened for a while. It got louder and louder. It was the scariest thing I've ever heard in my life. I was actually convinced someone HAD to be in the room, under my bed or in the closet. Too frightened to move, I called out to my parents. Dad came into the room and asked me what was wrong. After informing him of the breathing, he sat with me in silence to see if he could hear what I'd been telling him about. We sat quietly for a couple of minutes, and NOTHING could be heard. It had completely stopped. He said it could have been the water pipes, told me not to worry, and tucked me into bed. I felt comforted, especially now that the breathing had gone. But seconds after he left the room, it started again. It was a deep breathing. Almost like whoever it was, was struggling to breathe. I can't describe how terrifying it was to hear such a thing.
Even when I invited friends over to the house, they were too scared to come back after their visit. On one occasion, I had 3 friends over. We were playing in the garden at dusk, and I ran inside to grab everyone a drink. When I came back, the three smiling faces had now turned to ones of fear. They told me that while I was gone, they heard someone say, "Hello!" When I asked them to describe the voice, they could only tell me that it sounded like a very small child, coming from behind the plants and shrubs next to the pond.
I also witnessed some poltergeist activity in the old Villa. One evening, while I was sitting by the fire with Mum, we heard a noise coming from the kitchen. We both glanced in the direction of where the sound had come from, and to our surprise, a plastic water jug was hovering above the bench in mid air for a good 3 seconds. Suddenly, it fell to the floor, making us jump. Nothing was said, we both just looked at each other, with concerned faces. It was like we were so used to things like that happening.
The final happening that I can recall before we moved out, was something beyond bizarre. I would have been about 16 at the time. My brother and I decided to go outside with our sleeping bags and look at the stars for a while. It was a good clear night for it. We noticed that the moon looked strange that night, it had a glow about it that we'd never seen before. After a few minutes of staring at it, the glow got stronger and the top of it began to ripple and flicker, like a ball of fire. In complete amazement, we sat there watching. What we thought was the moon, then zoomed off and disappeared into the night sky, so fast, it was hard to comprehend what had just happened. To this day, we still don't know what it was. We were so sure it was the moon.
Over the space of 11 years in the house, my family and I experienced some terrifying things. In the end, we had to move out because my parents decided to split. A week after they announced this, my dog died of cancer and my cat was found dead in the garden. It was like the end of an era.
We sold the house to a nice couple with two children and a small baby. I still drive past the house regularly, and wonder if they experience paranormal activity. I guess I'll never know."

"My Doppelganger Roams At Midnight" by darkrose13 @ yourghoststories.com

"When this happened to my family (particularlly my brother and Mom), I was about seven and lived in Michigan. My brother was about five. One night, around midnight, I was asleep in my room at the end of the hall. My brother was asleep in my Mom's bed and woke up for no apparent reason. He sat up and looked over to the loveseat in the room.
There he saw what he thought to be me, trying to hide from his view, being all playful and giggling. The girl had golden blonde hair, blue eyes, long eye lashes, full lips and facial features similar to mine.
He then woke up Mom as he was very confused as to why I was up so late and told her to look over at the love seat and asked "Why is sissy by the couch?". They then both watched in horror as the ghostly figure move over to the window and jump out of it.
My mom was panicked of course and went to look out the window. Nothing was at the bottom on the ground outside the window. My mother was freaking out so she then ran to my room where she saw me sleeping peacefully.
The next morning she told me about it at breakfast. I was shocked and intrigued because I love the paranormal. But I have no recollection of leaving my body, however the ghost was very much like me. I wonder if I actually astro travelled or if I had a doppelganger. I have no idea to this day what really happened that night and it still remains a mystery to our entire family."

"Ghostly Knocking" by Whitfefe @ yourghoststories.com

"My husband and I bought our house April 2004. We had a 3-year-old son and I was 6 months pregnant with twins. We had been living in our house for 2 weeks. One night around 10:30 pm we heard loud knocking at our back door. My husband went to the door. As he reached the door we heard the loud knock again. He opened the door and no one was there. He closed the door locked it and came back to bed.
The next night around 10:30 pm the loud knocking happened again. This time my husband ran to the door, threw it open and said, "WHAT!?" Still no one was there. We were a little irritated, thinking that it was some kids playing around; however, we have 4 acres of land between us and our neighbors. We decided to watch a movie.
At 11:30pm we heard the loud knocking plus the door knob began to shake all at the same time. We both jumped up and ran to the door. The entire time we moved toward the door, the noise and shaking continued. Our 3-year-old ran out of his room and was asking what that was. My husband open the door and screamed, "WHAT DO YOU WANT!?" No one was there. So very irritated with this, he said he was going to go outside and watch the door to see if he could catch the person doing this. He went out the front and hid behind our shed which gave him a clear view of the back door. My son and I were sitting on the couch waiting... BAM BAM BAM on the back door. We jumped up and ran into my room. Seconds later, my husband comes bursting through the front door screaming, "No one was there! Did you hear it?" I came out of my room and said yes, we heard it. He said he was watching the door when the knocking happened. No one was there and he could see the doorknob move!
We have lived here now for eight years now, and every April we have two weeks where someone will knock on our back door, but no one is ever there!"

Trippy Tales #67...Scary Stories To Make You Shiver!

Ghouled Evening my faithful followers, and thank you for visiting the playhouse!

Tonight's Tales were borrowed from ghostvillage.com, and they're sure to give your bones a chill! Enjoy!

"Evil Drawings In A Drawer" by Shauna @ ghostvillage.com

"I moved to California on a whim. At the time (February 1979) I was in the process of getting a divorce, so I was single and had two small children. I was hoping to do a little better for them and myself. I rented a place that was great the first couple of months I was living there. It was a two-bedroom with a large living room, a great back yard that was fenced in, and across the street from me was a liquor store. A block up the street was a convenience store. Life was good. I met many new friends.

About two months after I moved into the house, I noticed that many times when I came home from work something would be misplaced, such as my keys. I would have trouble finding paper work I needed because it never was where I left it. Things moved around, however, I never witnessed anything moving. I knew that my girls were not the culprits, as they were only two and three at the time. They could not have gotten up and put things on top of the kitchen cabinets, or put things in the freezer, or put things in the kitchen cabinets. It just seemed like too much was happening.

One night after I had put the kids to bed, I was just getting into my bed and noticed that I could hear one of three balls rolling around in their bedroom. It was a small, multicolored foam ball that had a jingle bell in the center. I could hear the jingle bell tinkle tinkle tinkling. I was thinking that my older child had gotten up and was playing in the dark. I turned on the bedroom light, and she was sound asleep in her bed, and her sister was sound asleep in her crib. The ball was in the middle of the floor. I just picked it up and threw it in the toy box. I no sooner got into my bed, and again, the ball was rolling across the floor. Now I am thinking that it must have rolled off of the top of the toys in the toy box, so I picked up the ball from the middle of the room and this time I stuffed it down inside of the toy box to make sure it did not roll off the top of the toys. Well, guess what? I no more than hit my bed and it was rolling around again. As soon as I turned the light on it quit again. I was very frustrated and thought that this ghost was trying to make me lose my mind. I had many sleepless nights in that house, as things bumped and banged in the night, but never could see anything. Many times I felt like I was being watched or that someone was next to me, but I never saw anything. The hair would stand up on the back of my neck and arms. I finally got used to it and just would address the ghost when something was missing asking it to please put it back. I was never afraid of this entity, as it never hurt me or my girls. It was noisy at night though.

My girlfriend brought over a medium thinking she could help me. I did not know this person but she would not come into my house. She told me that my house was evil and left abruptly. I was shocked. I did not feel that it was evil at all. April of 1980 I had decided that I was going to move back to Wisconsin. I announced that information to my girlfriend when she was over one evening. We were sitting in the living room watching TV and drinking beer. (I had put the girls to bed already.) My girlfriend was going to run up the street to the convenience store to get us another six pack of beer as we were out. I stayed at the house waiting for her to return. I had a very large sofa that was very heavy. As soon as she shut the door to leave, that couch flew out from the wall with such force it threw me forward and then it flew backward and hit the wall. I was absolutely stunned. I was so scared I could not get off of the couch. It was a very violent incident. When my girlfriend came back, she looked at me and said, "What's wrong with you? You look like you saw a ghost," and laughed as she walked into the kitchen to put the beer into the cooler. I told her what had happened and she again told me that she couldn't understand how I could live in this house. Well, I was planning on moving back to Wisconsin the last week of April. Guess what? I moved back the first week of April! I was going through belongings getting them ready to pack when I opened a drawer that was in a hutch that was built into the dining room. I had never pulled the drawers out completely before, but I was dumping the drawer contents into boxes for moving. I came across some drawings that were underneath the drawer when I pulled it out. They all fell out. I was shocked. It was drawings of devils and demons. Lots of symbols and signs were on these drawings. I never finished looking at them. I promptly burned everyone of them in the fireplace. I was only in that house for another four days. I did not bring any belongings back other than my children, clothes, and the girls' toys. I left absolutely everything in the house. That was the first week of April 1980. In July of 1988 I went back to Valle Vista to see if that house was still standing. It was not. Someone had bulldozed it down and there was nothing left but a lot. I am so glad that house is gone!"

"Ghostly Childhood Memories" by Amanda @ ghostvillage.com

"When I was six, my sister Teri was five, and a visiting friend named Stephanie was five, we lived in a haunted house and saw the most unusual ghost I have ever heard of!

Teri, Stephanie and I were waiting outside for Stephanie's parents. They were visiting from England and had said they were ready to go and it would only be a "minute". Adult to child translation--two hours.

We were standing between our car and their car, discussing how annoying parents are, when we noticed a plane flying extremely close. It was an old, unpainted, gray cargo looking plane. It was more boxy and round than streamlined, at least that's how I remember it.

We were very excited about a plane being so close and watched with fascination as the plane landed ON THE ROOF OF OUR HOUSE! Of course, being children, we had no idea that planes don't land on houses. We were just feeling pretty special and jumping up and down waving at the pilot. The pilot looked at us and laughed and waved back. It seems to me that he was wearing Red Baron like accessories. After a few moments, he took off again. He had come from the left side of the house and gone on to the right.

By this time, we were sick and tired of waiting on our parents, so we went in to see what the holdup was. We found them sitting around the kitchen table chatting. Well, I was just unbearably annoyed at my parents and hers and decided that I might as well be a part of the conversation since that was the only attention I was going to get.

"Did you hear the plane on the roof?" I said. My dad said, "Oh, Jacklyn, you're imagining things." I knew I wasn't, but after I thought about it, I couldn't remember the plane making any noise.

The whole subject was abandoned (not forgotten) until I was about 13 years old.  The family was taking a car trip when I suddenly mentioned the ghost plane event out loud. My sister, Teri, said, "Oh my God!  I remember that too, I thought it must have been a dream!" The correlation proved that it was real and I knew it was anyway because I have an unusually good memory. In fact, I can remember some things from before I could walk.

The really strange part of this is, how could an entire plane have been in the form of a ghost? An inanimate object?

That was not an isolated incident. That house was haunted! The very first night we stayed in our new house, Dad gave Teri and I flashlights in case we needed to find the bathroom in the dark.  Well, I needed to find the bathroom. So I sat up, found my flashlight, turned it on and shined it in front of me, to find a black male figure at the end of my bed.  He didn't speak, only turned his head to look at me.

I was so scared that I just turned off the flashlight, put it back under my pillow, laid back down and shut my eyes. I thought that he would go away if he thought that I was asleep. All night long I stayed awake with my eyes shut listening for the man.  I never heard him leave and so it was light before I could muster the courage to open my eyes. The first thing I did was go to the bathroom because after holding it all night, I was really uncomfortable.  After that, I went to my parents room and told them about it.  They said, "Oh, Jackie, you're imagining things."

When I moved to my own room in the same house, there were new events. Every night as long as I was in that room, a woman would come out of the wall. She was an older woman, kind of scrawny and scraggly. She would come and stand over my bed a moment and then leave the room. I was pretty sure that she was checking on everyone. She would always come back and go into the same spot of the wall that she came out of.

She would lean almost right on top of me so I thought that her eyesight probably wasn't very good.  She must have really wanted to see me. I wasn't scared of her after the first couple of nights.

Anyway, those are the three major things that happened in our haunted house. By the way, my parents never noticed anything.

The funny part of this story, is that this was a relatively new house-- the next one we lived in was over 100 years old and still had the woman's belongings in the second story. On top of that, she died in her bed in the kitchen.  However, nothing peculiar ever happened in that house."

"Unwanted Ghostly Roommates" by Tara @ ghostvillage.com

My fiancé and I had moved into our first apartment in late July. We had just got done unpacking everything about the second week of August and had finally gotten our bed put together. Our bed was situated so that if I laid on my back the window was to my right and there was a street lamp outside the window that was very bright. The first night we slept in our room I woke up about two in the morning. I was sleeping on my side looking away from the window but had a feeling like someone was behind me. I rolled over and perfectly centered in the window was a shadow of a man. There were no clear or vivid features of the man, just a black figure. I sat up really quick and as I did it ran around our bed, opened our bedroom door, and darted out into the living room. At the same time it ran into the living room the phone began to ring in one long ring and was in the middle of the living room floor as opposed to being in the kitchen where it was plugged in and always left. The blinds were swaying and banging into each other also.

I awoke my fiancé who could not find anything unlocked for someone to get into the house. I was almost convinced it never happen until my fiancé closed the bedroom door and we saw a hole in the wall where the doorknob had been slammed into the wall when it was opened by whatever was in the apartment that night. The following night I awoke to a girl standing at the end of my bed in a red polka dot dress with pigtails waving at me. We moved into another apartment the next week!"
