Trippy Tales #33..."More Terrifying Tales Of Missing Time!"

Time Warp

Because our perception of time is usually so routine and mundane, when a person is enveloped by a time slip, they report it to be the most bizarre and disorienting thing they’ve ever experienced.  Here are some of those stories...

MISSING TIME IN TEXAS

By Steve S. @ about.com
"Twenty years ago, my wife, my son, my nine-year-old stepdaughter and I were returning from a vacation to the Ozarks, where my family lives and I was born, to Texas. I liked to travel at night to avoid traffic in the large cities. I had to travel through Dallas and Houston, and we had been traveling for some time. Suddenly, at the same time, my wife and I looked at each other and then at the clock on my dashboard. Several hours had elapsed since we had last noticed the time and we had no idea where we were. We were on a county road several miles from the interstate we had been traveling on. We were so shook up that we pulled into a truck stop, the only place available for miles. We pulled right up the the window and sat and drank coffee for a while, not one word was spoken between us. When we got back into the car, she told me she didn't know what had happened and did not want to know. Had we both fallen asleep and driven for around 150 miles? Did we both have the same question concerning the time? Why was she so worried?"

Instant Replay

"A strange thing happened to Ryan Bratton at the age of eight. It was an otherwise ordinary day for him and his friend as they were sitting in his yard while other kids rode their bikes up and down a driveway.
“A car came down the road and stopped at a house,” Ryan remembers. “A kid got out and ran inside making noises that kids around his age make. Then a girl rode her bike down the driveway.
“A couple of minutes after this happened, the SAME car went down the road, stopped at the house, and the SAME kid got out of the car and ran inside screaming the EXACT things he had been saying. Then the girl went down the hill on her bike AGAIN. I looked over to my friend and he said he had no idea what had just happened.”

(And now for the wierdest story of all!)

"This story takes place in Austintown, Ohio on Route 76 back in 1981. I was 20. Dad asked me if I wanted to look at a house that was for rent. The next morning we went to his mom's house at 5:00 for some coffee. She asked what we were doing out so early. Dad told her that we were meeting a realtor at at 6:00. At 5:30, we left getting to the house a couple minutes before 6.
As we pulled in the drive, we noticed the yard had not been cared for. The house was a rectangular two-story dwelling with front windows only on the second floor. As we got out of the van, it was a quiet, calm day except for two kids laughing in the back yard. We figured it was the neighbor kids from across the street. As we approached the back of the house, there was a swing set with two swings. They were swinging in opposite directions with nobody on them. There was laughter of a boy and a girl. Another quick glance and the swings were still. Dad asked if I had seen that. I had.
We proceeded back to the side of the house. We passed the garage. It had two wooden doors with small glass panes. We looked in the window. The garage had a dirt floor and was empty. We walked up to the side porch. The door was unlocked so we went inside.
Dad turned on the switch, but no lights came on. I tried a few with no luck. The inside of the house was weird. There was a large room with doorways branching off. The living room was like none I had ever seen. It was about 10x40 with no windows except for the small one in the door. I went back into where dad was. He was trying to open the basement door, which was locked. Dad asked if I was ready to go. Instead of leaving, he went into the living room and stared out the front door window for about three or four minutes. I was about to go upstairs when I got an eerie feeling. So, I stayed in the main area.

Dad then came out and asked if I was ready to go again. At that point, dad made the remark that we hadn't tried that door. We had. It was the locked basement door. He turned the knob and the door opened. The hair on the back of my kneck stood up. Now I was getting scared. Dad flipped the light switch and it came on. I was wondering why the other lights didn't come on earlier. Dad proceeded to go down the steps, but I was leary. I went down. The basement was small. There was an old wringer washer with a loaded revolver on the lid. It was like the silver and ivory-handled cap guns that kids use today. I picked it up four inches off the lid and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a light cord moving. The lights went out and the door slammed shut. It was so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. I felt aimlessly for my dad. Holding his shirt, we went up the stairs. At the top, he stopped and let out a blood-curdling scream. It made my blood run cold. I pushed him and he pushed the door open. All the lights were on and it was dark outside.
After jumping in the van, dad turned the headlights on. The garage doors were open. There was a lamb lying on the dirt floor with its throat slashed, jerking violently. Blood was running into the dirt.
When we arrived back at my grandmother's, it was 2:30 a.m. She asked where we had been all day. We had lost 21 hours in five minutes time in the basement. Later, we drove past the house and all the doors were shut and the lights were out. When I would ask dad about what he had seen, he would cuddle in the corner and shake like a kid crying. To this day, I don't know what he saw and I don't want to know. Since he has passed away, I will never know.
When I went back in 1987, to see if the house was still there, it was boarded up. There was a large FBI sign on the house stating that for your own safety, stay out. I'm going back in July, 2004 to see if the house is still there."

Trippy Blog #32...A couple cool paranormal pics!

Hello & welcome back to the playhouse!

I have some ghostly photos to share with you today.

The first, is a picture of me taken a few years ago, with my head cut off.

(That is, cut off out of the camera range!;)

My friend who took it, is famous for cuttin' people's heads off in photos!

Anyhoo...

You can clearly see a man in the center of the riding ring.

Only problem was...there was no man there when the picture was taken!

(Atleast no man that I recall anyway-and I was there for over an hour!)

The man looks very much like a man who had worked (and suddenly died) at the stables from a heart attack.  He had been complaining of his arm hurting the day before he passed, which makes it all that more mysterious that his arm isn't showing in the photo. After showing this picture to the stable owner, we concluded that maybe this was the reason the horses had been acting so "spooked" around that time!

The next photo was sent to me by my sweetheart, Gaston, and has been passed around the net for quite some time.  It is a photo of The Allman Brothers at their very first rehearsal after Duane died in 1971. The photo was taken in November of that year, in Juliette, Ga.

I've enlarged this picture so you can see under the stage...on the far left hand side.
(Your left....the pic's right)

Sure looks like Duane to me!

Here is a photo of him with Berry Oakley for comparison:
Cool huh?! :)

I hope you enjoyed today's blog!

Stay tuned for more paranormal pics and trippy tales, coming soon!

Trippy Tale # 31....."The Hole In The Attic"

From Kyle Bruce @ "Cosmic Log"...

"You'll have to excuse the secondhand knowledge on this one. I actually was present at the time, but way too young to remember. This story was related to my family by my father about an occurrence that happened to him and his brother...

"When they were younger, my father was helping his brother renovate a one-story house for his family. (I was in another room asleep, or so I was told) Anyway...

They were working in the living room of the house on a ceiling fixture. He was standing on a ladder in the middle of the room and removing a fan in order to install one of those new, light fixtures/fans.

"After he removed the fan, there was a hole in the ceiling about 24 inches wide that should have led up to the attic. My uncle, curious to see what was up there, got out his flashlight and poked his head through the hole. He then climbed down from the ladder, packed up all his stuff, and made my dad take me and him back to my grandmother's house.

"He didn't tell my dad what he saw until they were about 20 miles down the road...

He said that where there should have been fairly small attic, there was an exact replica of the living room they were standing in, right down to the wall fixtures, dresser drawers in the corner, same wallpapering and exact same colored carpet.

The only difference was, where the light fixture should have been in the replica room, there was another empty hole into blackness directly above his head!

He didn't end up moving into that house and sold it a few weeks later."

Trippy Tale # 30..."Spirits Within"

"I lived in a house visited by spirits.  My childhood home was a typical three bedroom brick house in a quiet little neighborhood.  It was a corner house with a tool shed in the back and a driveway that led up to a carport.  There were many fruit trees behind the house—fig, plum, and pear.  Nothing was very unusual about the appearance of the house.  But there were spirits within...

It all began very soon after we moved into the house when I was five years old.  My parents sometimes acted so odd, and it wasn’t until I was a little older that I found out why.  The spirits would do things to us kids like move pillows into the living room as we slept, hide our toys and jewelry in odd places like inside kitchen cabinets, and make strange noises at times, bees buzzing or footsteps.  But they would often torment my parents.  My poor mom would wake up in the middle of the night gagging on the smell of burned flesh.  There were other smells, like a pungent rose perfume in certain areas of the house that would come on suddenly.  One night, my sisters and I were at a friend’s birthday party and my parents were in the den watching television when they saw the shadow of a person walk across the room.  My dad investigated and found all the doors and windows locked.  No one was there.  Another time my dad was sitting before an easel painting a picture when he heard steps behind him, then he felt a hand settle on his shoulder.  He asked my mom what she thought of the picture.  When she didn’t respond, he glanced behind him.  But no one was there.

However, one of the spookiest things to have ever happened was after we lived in the house a few years.  My mom had taken us kids shopping one day, and my dad stayed behind.  He’s a great guy who thought to surprise my mom with cleaning the house while we were gone.  So, he was completely alone in the house.  My little sister had a plastic doll.  It was a very old doll, about four feet high, and had arms and legs that would move at the shoulders and hips.  It also had the kind of eyes that would open and close.  Well, my sister left the doll in the living room on the sofa, sitting with her arms and legs out before her, and her head straight.  My dad got the vacuum out and started on the right side of the room.  After a minute, he got a funny feeling and glanced over his shoulder.  The doll had turned her head and was looking right at him.  At first, he thought maybe he had been mistaken about how the doll had been facing.  So, he moved the vacuum over to the left side of the room.  After taking a deep breath, he turned around.  The doll was looking right at him.  Again, she had turned her head to watch him.

We moved from the house after living there about six years.  From what our neighbors would tell us, people who moved into the house after us didn’t stick around for very long.

And I can't say that I blame them!"

Trippy Tale # 29..."Childhood Hauntings"

Hello and welcome back to the playhouse! I know my next entry was supposed to be a "true" story about a haunting in a public housing unit, but after some research, I discovered the story wasn't actually true, so that's out. I don't post creative writing. "Just the facts mamm!"  So in place of that, I've posted some spine-tingling tales that I think you'll like even better! They're stories of childhood hauntings that left a lasting impression! Enjoy!  :)

"A HAUNTED CHILDHOOD"
"When I was five, me, my one year old brother, and my mom & dad moved out of Atlanta to a suburb just northeast of the city. The house was your run of the mill, shoddily made Pulte home. It was two stories tall, had crappy siding made out of that material that rots really easily (don't know what it's called, but it's not wood) and was affordable for us as a middle-class family.
The first two weeks there, I had to sleep on the floor with nothing more than a blanket and a pillow until the third week when my mom finally bought me a bunk-bed.
It was the first night on this bunk-bed that I found myself randomly awoken around 12am for no particular reason. Light was shining under the door and someone was in the hall. Immediately after this, I looked up and across my barren room to see a tall, shadowy figure standing in the middle of the floor. Immediately, my heart froze.
Being deadly afraid of whatever "it" was, I turned around, put the blanket over my head, and and attempted to muster the courage to yell, for about an hour. Finally, I began hollering at the top of my lungs for one of my parents.
Suddenly, my dad busts in and sees me, I am utterly relieved. What he said next was something I did not need to hear.
"Did you see it too?" I sat there silently for a moment.
"No." I lied.
Either way, he slept on the top bunk, and startled, we both went back to sleep.
During my ten years in that house, we saw multiple "things." The worst one came some years later...I was sleeping on the couch beneath our balcony that overlooked the den and living room and saw two bright white heads, like children, staring down at me. I nearly crapped my pants.
The last thing I remember seeing, was a tall, slender shadow that moved along the wall and disappeared.
I went to school and checked out dozens of ghost books and studied them as much as possible. I then read somewhere that cats kept the "spirits" away, so I got two cats with my mom's permission. Believe it or not, this actually worked.
The last real thing that happened, as I remember, was someone whispering my name as I walked by the room where I had seen the "figure" and one of the cats walking out of a door purring as if someone had been playing with it followed by the door, which was hollow and made from balsa wood (thus physically impossible to slam), slamming violently, the cat didn't budge. Luckily, the entire family was there for that.
The worst part, was that it wasn't until we moved that my mom admitted to seeing those "things" too, she even named some of them that I hadn't had the courage to tell her about, but she never talked about it, so she didn't scare my brother. She was even more startled when she got the place tested for carbon monoxide, and came up short.
I talked to a friend years later and he said that it might have something to do with low wave frequencies and air pockets. I chocked it up to this, and to this day, I no longer believe in that stuff. However, there's no denying what we all saw and how creepy it was. I still have extremely vivid dreams about that place to this day and that dark shadowy figure standing in doorways, just staring at me in silence."

"BOO"

"When I was five, we lived in military housing out in Long Beach, California. My father was in the Navy and we moved around quite a bit. I have never forgotten this... There used to be an old lady that would appear at my bedroom window at night. It was so scary and all she ever said to me was "Boo!" She wore her grey hair in a bun and wore a high-necked old-fashioned greyish-blue dress. She also wore one of those old timey pink cameo necklaces. She was very old and it always frightened me to the point I wouldn't look out that window. It seemed that just looking out the window caused her to appear. I could see her plainly even though it was dark. It only happened at that place...I was glad when we moved on. I wonder why this happened? Was this a real ghost or just my imagination? Any ideas? I've always wondered about this and doubt it was some deranged neighbor since her dress was from the 1800's."

"Childhood Memory"
ghost
"I feel I should give you the background on my home first. The house is about 117 years old and I have lived in it my entire life. I would say the haunting started when I was about three years old. My mother told my I had an irrational fear of being alone upstairs and some times even being up stairs at all! When I was about 5, I remember things started to go missing and then turn up again in peculiar places. One incident, my mother had a jar of money that had vanished and a day later, I found it in my doll house, I had no idea how it got there. Along with things being misplaced, we heard disembodied voices, people whispering and my mother on several occasions, came to my comfort because she heard a child crying and assumed it was me, when in fact, it was not.
When I finally got my own room, I was moved into what I now call "the nightmare room". I called it this, because as the night went on and I stayed in this room, I started to develop a severe case of night terrors. Every night, I would wake up screaming from graphic gory dreams. I never watched horror movies as a child, so when I described the dreams in such detail to my mother, she was shocked. Eventually I was moved from the room and slowly. the night terrors stopped. But I kid you not, to this day, I sleep with a blanket over my head! I think the absolute scariest thing though, was when I was about eight...there had not been much activity in a while, and I was sound asleep when I felt the sensation of almost like someone gently tapping on my calf to get my attention. Well it was enough to get my attention! I opened my eyes and I saw a full body apparition of a young man by the end of my bed. I was so shocked that I just screamed at the top of my lungs, and just like that, it was gone, never to show itself to me again. As I got older, the activity slowed down, and now at the age of 20, they are almost never active. I don't know if they are just dormant or maybe they only show themselves to children. I guess I will never know. On a side note, in high school, one of my teacher happened to live in my house when she was young just for a short time. She confirmed that she too had heard things in the house and had small things go missing. Other than that tidbit, I know nothing about the history of my home, although I would love to some day find out."
